Character Ed Theme – Respect
Cheer Squad: Are you full of energy? Do you have school spirit? Do you love to cheer on your Panther team? We want YOU to be part of our Cheer Squad! Tryouts will be next week, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in the Gym. Our Kellsie' Hope Foundation Fundraiser is here! Start bringing in your DECORATED and FILLED yellow socks! The classroom that raises the most, and the top 3 decorated socks all earn PRIZES! If we beat our total school donation from last year, our Student Council Officers will get a PIE IN THE FACE from students at BOTH MPC and MCS! Let’s make this happen!
MCS Students- Orders for house shirts are due this Friday.
Yesterday cross country ran in O’fallon and we had quite a few finish strong and medal. Our girls 7th grade and under JV team which only had 5th graders on it placed 3rd overall. And the boys 7th grade and under JV team placed 5th overall.
Vivienne Rehling placed first, Veda Casey placed 10th, Sydney Johnson placed 13th and Morgan Witt placed 20th overall for JV. In the open race Rex Converse placed 4th overall for the boys. Congrats again to all!!
The Patriot’s Pen Program is a VFW-sponsored youth essay competition that gives students the opportunity to express their views on an annual patriotic theme. We invite you to join the more than 60,000 students who participated last year in this contest.
Contestants must complete the 2025-2026 Official Entry Form.
The 2025-2026 theme is: How Are You Showing Patriotism And Support For Our Country?
Why Should I Enter? Prizes and scholarships can be awarded at the Post, District, State, and national levels. Department (State) winners receive a portion of $55,000 in national awards, with national winners receiving at least $500. The first-place national award is currently $5,000.
Who is eligible? Patriot’s Pen is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students enrolled by the Oct. 31 deadline in public, private, or parochial schools in the U.S., its territories, or its possessions; or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools. Home-schooled students are also eligible.
How Do I Get Started? Contact Kristin Scharf or Mick Cohagan at VFW Post 7980 to indicate your interest. Ensure your essay is submitted to the VFW Post 7980 before the contest deadline of Oct. 31.
What Are the Rules? Write your own essay, typed in English with no color or graphics (300 - 400 words). Essays must be anonymous; do not include personal identifiers. Secure the Official Student Entry Form on top of your essay. The essay must be the contestant's original work.
How Am I Judged? Knowledge of the theme, theme development, and clarity of ideas are key judging criteria.
Deadline Information: All entries must be submitted to Kristin Scharf or Mick Cohagan at VFW Post 7980 by midnight Oct. 31.
