Character Ed Theme – Respect

Our LiveSchool store will be open today at lunch.

SCHOOL FUNDRAISER:  I am excited to share that our school fundraiser begins this week! Today, you will be receiving a folder with an order form and a flyer for our cookie dough and frozen treats sale. This fundraiser is extra special because it’s about doing something good for others. The money we raise will go toward helping repair the playground used by our youngest Panthers in the Early Childhood classroom at MPC. They deserve a safe and fun place to play, and together we can make that happen! Of course, we also want to make this fun for you:

• Any student who sells 5 items will receive a prize.

• If you sell 15 or more items, you’ll win a trip to Happy Days!

• And the top earning homeroom in grades 3–5 and in grades 6–8 will win a pizza party.

• So, let’s get excited, Panthers! We’re raising money for a great cause and having fun along the way.

Cheer Squad:  Are you full of energy? Do you have school spirit? Do you love to cheer on your Panther team? We want YOU to be part of our Cheer Squad! Tryouts will be next week, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday 9/29-10/1 in the Gym. You MUST have a current physical on file and a positive attitude! See Coach Sangiolo or Mr. Weaver for questions and more information.

Friday, 9/26the cross country teams competed at the Conference meet. Both teams placed 3rd. We also had some strong finishes.  In the girls varsity race- Vivienne Rehling medaled and placed 6th. Veda Casey placed 11th.

In the boys varsity race-Alex Hogg medaled and placed 9th.  Conner Branum placed 11th.  

And in the open race we had Lou Sangiolo place 2nd and Donovan Kennedy place 7th!

Our Kellsie' Hope Foundation Fundraiser ends today! Please make sure you have turned in your DECORATED and FILLED yellow socks! The classroom that raises the most, and the top 3 decorated socks all earn PRIZES! If we beat our total school donation from last year, our Student Council Officers will get a PIE IN THE FACE from students at BOTH MPC and MCS! 

The Patriot’s Pen Program is a VFW-sponsored youth essay competition that gives students the opportunity to express their views on an annual patriotic theme. We invite you to join the more than 60,000 students who participated last year in this contest.

Contestants must complete the 2025-2026 Official Entry Form.

The 2025-2026 theme is: How Are You Showing Patriotism And Support For Our Country?

• Why Should I Enter? Prizes and scholarships can be awarded at the Post, District, State, and national levels. Department (State) winners receive a portion of $55,000 in national awards, with national winners receiving at least $500. The first-place national award is currently $5,000.

• Who is eligible? Patriot’s Pen is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students enrolled by the Oct. 31 deadline in public, private, or parochial schools in the U.S., its territories, or its possessions; or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools. Home-schooled students are also eligible.

• How Do I Get Started? Contact Kristin Scharf or Mick Cohagan at VFW Post 7980 to indicate your interest. Ensure your essay is submitted to the VFW Post 7980 before the contest deadline of Oct. 31.

• What Are the Rules? Write your own essay, typed in English with no color or graphics (300 - 400 words). Essays must be anonymous; do not include personal identifiers. Secure the Official Student Entry Form on top of your essay. The essay must be the contestant's original work.

• How Am I Judged? Knowledge of the theme, theme development, and clarity of ideas are key judging criteria.

Deadline Information: All entries must be submitted to Kristin Scharf or Mick Cohagan at VFW Post 7980 by midnight Oct. 31.
